In Wisconsin, there are 30 counties that have lands enrolled in the County Forest Law §28.11, totaling in excess of 2.4 million acres of public land. Combined, they are the largest ownership of public land in Wisconsin. Each year, sustainable forest management on county forests generate anywhere from $40-50 million in timber revenues, resulting in approximately 16,000 jobs and $4.6 billion in forest products production. County forests also provide many recreational and tourism opportunities.
